The Army Heritage Center Foundation and Humana Inc. invite you to join us on September 14th for a fun and educational event with school students in grades 6th – 8th at the U.S. Army Heritage Education Center. (950 Soldiers Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013) All veterans who sign up will also recieve a free t-shirt.
AMVETS and VFW members will team up with students from the local school districts to tour the mile-long Army Heritage Trail, visit the museum gallery inside, assist the students with a scavenger hunt, and get to know each other. All areas are handicap accessible.
Students will arrive between 9:30 and 9:45 AM. The program will kick off at 10:00 AM with a short welcome before the student-veteran teams begin their tours. Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM, (sponsor to be determined).
Following lunch, a POW will talk about his experience as a POW during the war, followed by a brief ceremony to mark National POW/MIA Recognition Day, officially September 15, 2017.
After lunch the students and veterans will then be able to finish their tours and at 1:45 we will gather everyone for a closing ceremony and send students on their way back to schools at 1:50.
